Storing Your Fishing Tackle on a Boat

Anyone who fishes from a boat will tell you that storage is always a problem. Rods need to be kept safe and dry, tackle boxes need to be accessible but out of the way, and everything needs to be secured so it doesn’t slide around when the boat moves.

On a houseboat, you’ve got a bit more room to work with. You can often fit dedicated rod holders and build storage into the design. Just make sure everything’s properly waterproofed, as even houseboats can take on a bit of water in bad weather.

If you’re using a smaller fishing boat, you’ll need to be even more careful about what you bring. Only take what you’ll definitely use, and invest in good quality storage that won’t fall apart after a season. Cheap tackle boxes might save you money initially but they’ll cost you more when they break and dump your gear in the water.
