Servicing Your Boat

There are a lot of similarities between the type of mechanical servicing that your boat and your car need to undergo for repairs or for your periodic servicing, but for a few differences, which completely change the whole situation.

With repairing boats, you can’t always do the work in the water, meaning that you may need to remove the boat from the water. This will allow your boat mechanic to do a complete diagnosis of the boat’s condition.

Boat servicing doesn’t just focus on mechanics; you also need to have the stability of the boat checked regularly so that it doesn’t sink when your miles away from the shoreline. This will involve them testing the boat for any small leaks, looking for any rot in the hull, and making sure that any piping leading to the outside of the ship isn’t compromised in any way.

The risks of not servicing your boat are arguably much higher than failing to do so with your car, as if you break down in your boat you could end up sinking miles away from any contact, but in a car all you need to do is pull over into your hard-shoulder and wait for road side assistance.
