House boats come in various types, styles and sizes. Depending upon the environment it is, one type may be more suitable for you than others. For instance, when trying to find a house boat for an ocean marina, you need to buy a boat specific to that environment. Namely, a boat which is treated to cope with the high salt content in the water. From there, deciding upon the type of houseboat becomes more interesting. Some houseboats are pretty much the same as a normal boat, but with a greater level of convenience, and permanence in the living area. This is a good option for when you still want a boat out of the arrangement. The other option, is basically a stationary, floating house, with everything that you would expect from a normal home, only it floats. This still allows you to live on a waterfront, and be largely immune to any floods. This may be ideal for you, but, of course, you don’t benefit from the transportable aspect of a more yacht like home.
